Soda Bread

Another day, another bread, this time Soda Bread.  Soda Bread must be the easiest, simplest bread to make. From start to finish it can be done and dusted in 35 minutes. Lovely with oodles of butter and jam....

Yields: 1 small loaf or 4 rolls

Ingredients

  • 250g Plain Flour
  • 5g Salt
  • 2tsp Baking Powder/Baking Soda
  • 150ml Milk
  • 2tblsp Ricotta (added to Milk), Optional
  • Couple of sprays Light Oil

    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 200c
    2. Combine all dry ingredients and add liquid to make a dough - add more milk if too dry or flour if too sticky
    3. Knead slightly, shape into a round about 5cm high. Flour all over and cut a cross across loaf almost to bottom of loaf. Put loaf in oven.
    4. Heat for 15 minutes, then spray with light oil put in for last 10 minutes. Bread is ready when sounds hollow when bottom is tapped.
    5. Turn out and slice as a normal bread or divide into 4 and use as rolls. Amazing eaten hot with butter! Enjoy
